FIR lodged against six doctors of Intertiol hospital

GUWAHATI, Feb 18: Alleging medical negligence against six doctors of Intertiol hospital in Guwahati, a grief stricken mother who has lost her six year old son, has filed a FIR at Dispur police station on Thursday.

It has been learnt that Avneet Singh Hora (6) was admitted in the PICU of the Intertiol hospital on the evening of Feb 14 at around 6.30 pm under the guidance of Dr Abid Ahmed. However, his condition deteriorated at 3 am and he had to be administered oxygen. But, there was no oxygen mask for small children in the hospital. "There was no oxygen mask for small children. We had to get it from GMCH. And at that critical time when I asked the hospital staff to call for the doctors in charge, no doctors were available at that time," Mrili Barbara, Avneet's mother said in the FIR lodged at Dispur police station.

She further said that at the time of admission in the hospital, they were told that the patient will be under the guidance of Dr Prakitish Bora, but when at the time of distress the victim family tried contacting Dr Bora, he didn't attended the calls.

Avneet was reportedly suffering from breathing problem.

Next day morning, three lady doctors allegedly put the child on ventilation following which he died after 15 minutes.

Seeking justice, the victim's family has appealed all to come out and have also urged the police to take action against Dr Tonmoy Das, Dr Abid Ahmed, Dr Amit Saha, Dr Rekha Borkotoky, Dr Prakitish Bora and Dr Geetanjali Saharia. The victim's family has informed that they will call on the governor and the chief minister seeking justice on Friday.
