Firecrackers worth Rs 10 lakh seized

GUWAHATI, Nov 20: A raid by the Crime Branch of the State police has yielded the seizure of a huge quantity of firecrackers worth Rs 10 lakh from one Binod Kumar from Machkhowa in the city today. The police conducted the raid while acting on a tip-off. According to the police, the firecrackers were supposed to have been procured before the Diwali. Binod Kumar failed to produce any documents like permission, challans etc., to prove legal approval of buying and storing of firecrackers with him. A case has been registered at Bharalumukh police station against him in this connection.
