Firing at Jalukbari

GUWAHATI, Dec 17: Jiten Kalita (43), a resident of Parli under Palashbari police station, was injured when a group of 6 motorcycle-borne men fired at him with a pistol this afternoon.

Around 3 .45 pm Kalita was traveling from Jalukbari to Gorchuk along the tiol Highway 37. He stopped near the over bridge for recharging his mobile when a group of 6 men on bikes coming from the Jalukbari side blocked his way and tried to stch away the bag containing Rs 45,000. In the scuffle that followed one of the members of the group fired at Kalita with is pistol injuring Kalita. When the locals rushed to the spot the group fled towards Gorchuk. Kalita was taken to Ayurvedic Medical College and later shifted to the GMCH.
