GUWAHATI/BOKO, Nov 29: One hundred and ten competitors were seen to have vied for the honour with the display of fish of diverse species at Athiabari at Hahim in the Boko area in Kamrup in district along the Assam-Meghalaya border.  This is a traditiol and age-old fishing competition being held between the people of West Kamrup of Assam and West Khasi Hill of Meghalaya. This competition makes people from either side of the inter-state border come together. People in large number enjoyed the prize-money competition. Organized by Hahim Youth Club, the prize money for fisherman to have displayed the best fishes is Rs 20,000, and that of the second and third prizes are Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000. Thirteen other competitors were given away Rs 800 each. The prizes were given away by Gauseng B Sangma of Mendipathar, North Garo Hill.
