Fleet of 125 vehicles given to PWD engineers

GUWAHATI, March 10: In a move to facilitate conveyance of field engineers for ensuring quality maintence of construction works under Public Works Department, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal today flagged off a fleet of 125 vehicles which were given to the engineers at a simple function held at Assam Legislative Assembly here today.

The fleet of vehicles was procured under the World Bank Aided ‘Assam State Roads Project’ which will be pressed into service for conveyance of the field engineers for undertaking inspection for quality maintence of the construction works.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said that the state will witness flurry of construction activities, including constructing 8,000 km roads under Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yoja in the coming days. In view of this, the vehicles distributed today would help in taking the field engineers far and wide for quality assurance. He also urged the officers and engineers to make good use of the vehicles and help in expediting development of the State.

Sonowal also handed over keys of the cars to the engineers. PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, MLAs from Sorbhog Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Dibrugarh Prasanta Phukan, PWD Commissioner Mohan Chandra Boro, along with a host other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
