Flood letting up, but not scarcity of food!

GUWAHATI, July 16: The flood situation in the State is letting up, but not the scarcity of food. Dispur, on the other hand, claims that it has no dearth of funds.

AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal wants as to know where the problem lies. “While Dispur maintains that it has no dearth of funds, the affected people decry lack of or idequate relief material. The Governor wanted to know on Saturday as to why there’s scarcity of food when Dispur claims to have adequate funds. The fact remains that the government’s stance on this issue is hazy. What could be the reason behind the affected people not getting adequate relief materials despite the Chief Minister asking the district administrations to provide adequate relief to the affected people? The Chief Minister and the Fince Minister may claim whatever they want, but the fact is that the affected people are not getting adequate relief materials. When over 1.50 lakh people are reeling under floods in the State, the state ministers aren’t working in sync with each other. When some of them claim to have adequate funds with them, some others say there is an acute cash crunch in the State. Union ministers were seen crowding the Northeast over the year, but when there is flood in Assam none of them is seen here.  Let Dispur make public as to what amount the Centre and it have released for relief to the flood affected people, and how much of the funds used.”
