Former rebels want NRC headquarters in Assam

GUWAHATI, Aug 31: The All Assam Ex-ULFA Co-ordition Committee has demanded the government to set up an NRC headquarters in Assam.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the president of the former ULFA body, Bhaskar Kalita said, “Government should take steps for setting up a NRC headquarter in the State besides setting up five zol offices in the sensitive areas of the State.” Kalita further said that the Register General of India should visit the State sometime to take stock of the progress of the NRC update exercise. All the organization should come forward and join hand together to monitor the NRC update work so that no illegal citizens are included in draft NRC. The organizatiol also appealed the people not to undertake any agitatiol programme in connection with the gaon incident as the government has agreed all the demands of the organization.
