Four more PNB officials grilled

GUWAHATI, March 12: The Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offences (BIEO) grilled four officials of Punjab tiol Bank (PNB), Zoo Road Branch, Guwahati on Monday in connection with scandal of the bank. The officials grilled are AGM Dhirendra Kumar Choudhury, Chief Mager Anil Tiwari, Mager Bharat Singh and accountant Pranjit Bhuyan. 
The BIEO recently arrested five persons in connection with a case against taking loans from the Zoo Road branch of Punjab tiol Bank through fraudulent means. The arrested persons were Phanidhar Talukdar (builder M/s Sky Scrappers Real Estate Pvt Ltd), Banwarilal Pareek (borrower from PNB), besides three of Talukdar’s employees – Amarendra Kalita, Saroj Sarma, and Sailen Roy. They are now in jail.  Talukdar had taken a loan from the bank in January and June 2016 in respect to a cash credit loan of Rs 1 crore and two housing loans (Rs 75 lakh and Rs 83 lakh). The PNB AGM bank authorities filed an FIR (case no: 2/18) on January 17, 2018.
