Free of cost blood test from today

GUWAHATI, Oct 1: State Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that patients can test their blood samples free of cost in all government hospitals in the State from October 2, 2017 onwards.

The minister said this while speaking at a programme on Swachchata Hi Seva at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the city on Sunday. “Free CT scan is already a reality in the State. From tomorrow, we’re going to make blood test free of cost so as to give patients succour. In association with the private sector we’re going to install state-of-the-art blood testing machines in all government hospitals in the State that can give reports of blood tests at any time, including late at night.” On the filling up of vacant posts in the department, Sarma said: “For the past three years 800 vacancies have been lying vacant in the six medical colleges in the State. Within the coming two months, we’re going to fill up 500 vacant posts of nurses.” On cleanliness, Sarma said: “We’re going to make Swachchata Hi Mission a reality in 1,000+ government hospitals in the State. We’re set to carry out such drives by involving local prominent persolities after every two months till cleanliness becomes a habit among all stakeholders.”
