GUWAHATI, Sept 23: In observation of Mahatma Gandhi’s 149th birth anniversary on October 2, the Kamrup (M) District Administration has decided to commemorate the occasion at Gandhi Mandap, Sarania Hills in the city. Chief Minister of State Srimanta Sarabanda Sonowal shall grace the occasion as the Chief Guest of the event. The function is set to be a two-fold one; it shall commence with a tribute paying ceremony wherein the Hon’ble Chief Minister among others shall garland the statue of Gandhiji and offer tributes to the Father of the tion. This is to be followed by an iuguration ceremony wherein the Chief Minister shall lay the foundation stone for the renovation project of Gandhi Mandap in Sarania Hills, under the aegis of Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL). Meanwhile, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) shall also observe the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at Rajiv Bhawan. Senior Gandhian towar Thakkar is expected to deliver a speech on Gandhiji at the occasion.
