Gaurav is a traitor: AGP

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 1: The Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) today termed MP Gaurav Gogoi a traitor who indulges in making childish statements.

The MP made a statement yesterday that 'there is not a single Bangladeshi in Assam'.

AGP general secretary Durga Das Boro reacted to the statement sharply and said: "This statement smacks of the childish behaviour of the MP. He is a traitor. The status of MP should be stripped of him."

The AGP leader also came down heavily on Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta who was on record saying earlier in the day that 'all people who had to enter India from East Pakistan under religious persecution should be given Indian citizenship. Even now, if any Bangladeshi enters India under religious persecution, he/she should be given Indian citizenship'. Reacting to this statement, Boro said: "The Congress is out to make Bangladeshis its bosom friends by dumping the Assam Accord and the cut-off date - March 25, 1971 - mentioned there."
