Gaurav meets NFR GM

GUWAHATI, June 9: Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi met NF Railway General Mager Chahatey Ram on June 8 on railway projects in the Northeast, including the Bogibeel Bridge and Broad Gauge conversion of Silchar-Lumding route.

According to a press release, the Assam MP appreciated the efforts of the previous UPA Government to accord the status of ‘tiol Projects’ to Bogibeel and Silchar-Lumding broad gauge conversion which greatly increased central funding to the projects.

Gogoi raised the issue of raising the platform of Silghat Railway station in gaon. The GM assured him that the issue would be positively addressed.

The MP further requested the GM to create a stop of the Brahmaputra Mail at the Sarupathar Railway Station. The GM has agreed to look into the matter. Construction of level-crossing at Khumtai Railway Station and ONGC Colony at Sarpathar were also raised at the meeting.

The GM assured the MP of sending an inspection team to study the feasibility of constructing crossings.

The MP also raised the issue of ‘construction of Jagiroad-Moirabari railway line’ in which he himself played an instrumental role to include the project in the Railway Budget 2016-17. The GM assured him of completing the base survey for construction of the proposed railway track by the end of 2017.
