Gautami of Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya is the only top 10 rank holder in Arts in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, June 2: Giving a face saver to Guwahati, Gautami Bezbaruah, a student of Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya, secured 10th position scoring 468 marks, in the arts stream of the Higher Secondary examition, results of which were declared today. Gautami is the lone student of the city to make it to the top 10 position in the arts stream of the HS exam, 2016.
Gautami, who wants to be a teacher in future, is the daughter of Kamakhya Bezruah and Gayatri Devi Bezbaruah of Chandan gar in Chachal area of the city. She will now do BA from Cotton College with major in Education.
Even though the city-school Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya located at Noonmati, registered hundred per cent success rate in the HS examition, barring Gautami no students of the school, both in Arts as well as in Science, could secure the top 10 ranks. Of the 57 students in the Science stream of the school, all the 57 obtained first division. Similarly, in Arts stream all the 46 students appeared in the examition emerged successful. 44 of them achieved first division while two students placed in second division.
Bhaskarjyoti Sarma, Bipanchi Bhattacharya and Gautami Bezbaruah of the school obtained highest marks in Education in state. All the three students secured 97 each in Education.
The vice-principal of Asom Jatiya Bidyalay said that they had hoped that at least two of their students would secure top ten positions in scince stream but only one could achieve the feat in Arts.
