GMC crackdown on uuthorized meat shops

GUWAHATI, Dec21: In a sudden move, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) undertook an eviction drive against meat shops that have no trade licenses or have not got their licenses renewed. The eviction drive took place in the Rukhminigaon area and from Bhetapara Chariali to Beharbari.

Two cowsheds at Bishnupur path in the Rukhminigaon area were also evicted for posing a threat to hygiene in the surrounding.

Fines from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 were slapped on meat shops for nonrenewal of trade license or having no license altogether. Enforcement officer Akhtar Hussain and Veteriry Officer Monoj Goswami were present during the eviction drive.
