GMC slaps fine on Shyamkanu Mahanta

GUWAHATI, April 11: The GMC today issued a notice to Trend MMS, North East Festival chief functiory Shyamkanu Mahanta informing him that a fine of Rs 10,000 has been slapped on him for leaving Veteriry Playground at Khapara without the required sanitary and cleaning measures even after six days of completion of ‘Rongali – Celebrating the Essence of Assam’ event from April 3 to 5.  It is worth mentioning here that Mahanta has been vocal on various talk shows regarding cleanliness of the city. He has also been ordered to clean the play ground within 24 hours with proper disposal of garbage, failing which an FIR will be lodged against him.
