GUWAHATI, Nov 1: They say ‘you reap what you sow’. Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is stuck in such a situation. Talking to newsmen in the city today, Gogoi, who is under Z+ security cover, said: “The cars allotted to me by the government are old ones which are left without proper upkeep.” This allegation from Gogoi prompted the reporters to ask him back: “Former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, who was also under Z+ security cover during Tarun Gogoi’s tenure as the Chief Minister, had to face numerous problems because of allotment of very old cars. Mahanta had been stranded at various places because of his cars going out of order. It seems as if you’re now facing what Mahanta faced during your tenure as the Chief Minister.” Blushed at the unexpected question from the reporters, Gogoi said: “Mahanta never informed me of it. Had he informed me of all those problems, I could have done something tangible. I don’t know if the NSG kept my government informed of it.”
