BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Dec 5: Alleging that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is politicizing the issue of Goria Development Council (GDC),  the Goria Development Council Demand Committee (GDCDC) on cautioned Gogoi not to ignore the sacrifice of the indigenous Muslim communities.

In his Independence Day speech this year, the Chief Minister assured us of forming the GDC, but to no avail. In a press release, GDCDC vice president Rohmosa Ali said, “On September 10 this year, the Chief Minister held a meeting with 12 Muslim indigenous organizations and assured them that before forming the development council, he would consult each and every stakeholder. But till today, none of the organizations has received any formal invitation for talks.”

He further added, “The chief minister has ignored the plight and self respect and is trying to form the council for vested interest.” The GDCDC also made it clear that if the council is formed, its chairman should be an all-acceptable person who has contributed towards the cause of the Goria community. It also said that they will not accept any political person as the chairman.
