Gogoi pleads Parrikar for display of R-Day tableau

GUWAHATI, Dec 22: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi requested Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to give opportunity to Assam to display its tableau in the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.

In a letter to Parrikar today, Gogoi said the presence of a tableau from Assam in the Republic Day parade would help in enhancing the sense of patriotism amongst the people of the State and instilling a feeling of tiolism amongst the misguided youth of the region.

Gogoi welcomed the decision of the expert committee for selection of tableau for selecting the design showcasing the Bihu dance. “We welcome the decision of the expert committee, as the beautiful Bihu dance not only symbolizes the vibrant and pulsating cultural heritage of the State but also represents the spirit of Assam and the composite ture of our diverse culture,” he said. It may be mentioned that the Government of Assam had submitted four designs for the State tableau, out of which the design showcasing the Bihu dance was shortlisted by the expert committee for selection of Tableau.
