Gogoi wants CBI to probe Islam murder soon

GUWAHATI, August 4: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has raised his voice demanding CBI inquiry into the killing of ABMSU president Lafiqul Islam.
In a statement issued to the press on Friday, Gogoi said that mere request to the CBI to inquire into the killing of Islam would not serve the purpose. According to Gogoi, the killing is very complicated as it has diverse angles. The killing, according to Gogoi, could be perpetrated by insurgents active in the BTAD, fundamentalists, cattle smugglers linked to political leaders or others. “The State Government, showing ideal guardianship, should prevail upon the Government of India to get the murder investigated by the Special Tast Force of the CBI immediately, and ensure that actual perpetrators of the crime are booked,” Gogoi said.
