Gohain to receive Lachit Award today

GUWAHATI, Nov 23: The Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad (TAYP) is going to confer the Lachit Award on Dr. Hiren Gohain at a function at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in the city on the occasion of Lachit Diwas on Thursday.

Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit will give away the award to Gohain after an open meeting in presence of former State Home Commissioner Birendra Kumar Gohain, AASU chief advisor Sammujal Kumar Bhattacharya and others.

Lachit Diwas is being celebrated from today and will conclude on Thursday. As part of the day, plantation is going on besides various games and sport events. Banfi puja was held today. Tomorrow, a procession will be taken out from Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra to Ganeshguri flyover on November 24 on the occasion.
