By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 26: The All Asom Goriya-Moriya Yuva-Chatra Parishad (AAGMYCP) today welcomed the draft population policy of Assam that had been made public recently. “The alarming rise in population in the State doesn’t develop the State rather it pushes the State towards a danger. A number of Muslim organizations in the State have opposed the policy. Actually they don’t want development of the Muslims. Control over population growth will also help the Muslims of Assam develop socially, educatiolly and economically. A section of parties and organizations have been collecting huge amounts of funds from the Islamic world just by showcasing the grim picture of poverty of the Muslims in Assam. If the Muslims of the State develop such funds will cease to pour in to them,” the organization said, and added: “If the Muslims of the State are to be developed, their population has to be controlled. Parallel to that, the government should also hold awareness meets on population control, use birth control techniques and medicines.”
