GUWAHATI, Sept 21: An 11-member delegation of Akhil Assam Gorkha Sammelan led by its working president Uday Chetri called on State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Dispur on Wednesday.
Chetri said that the deliberations were mainly focused on the pathetic conditions of Nepali language and literature even after the Silver Jubilee year of constitutiol recognition of Nepali Language by the Indian government.
“It was August 20, 1992 we celebrated Silver Jubilee. Manipuri language is far ahead in terms of educatiol facilities provided by the government. It is lamentable to note here that the Nepali and Manipuri language got recognisation on same date,” Chetri said.
Minister Sarma assured the delegation to address all the grievances regarding learning and teaching of Nepali language in school, colleges and universities of Assam. The delegation was comprised of Kashith Upadhaya ,ex-president and advisor ,Ganga Dhakal ,Tilak Sharma ,Pitamber Joshi, Agraj Chetri, Kumar Chetri, Chandan chetri ,Yam Bhadra Kuwar , Lilath Sharma and Baburam Poudel .
