GUWAHATI, August 29: Gorkha Autonomous Council Demand Committee (GACDC) is going to take out a procession on September 9 in the city against, what it said, the partiality being meted out to the community in the NRC update process by the Assam Government. “Gorkhas has been an integral part of the greater Assamese community. And if all tribes and communities of Assam come together to overcome the challenges that the state faces and if all the tribes and communities live sharing equal rights then only the  development of the state is possible. However, the Assam Government seems to enforce on us the date(1971, March 24) which is applicable to the illegal migrants and foreigners,” Dil Bahadur Limbu, one of the GACDC vice presidents said. On July 19 the president of Committee Hark Bahadur Chetry took out a 600-km protest march from Murkongselek in Dhemaji to Dispur. He was assured of a tripartite meeting involving representatives of the Union Home Ministry, State Assam Accord Minister, chief coorditor of NRC update by August 20, 2016. However, the meet is yet to be held.
