Guwahati, March 30: Hindu Yuba Chattra Parishad Asom (HYCPA) has alleged that the government has miserably failed to check Jehadi activities and the rising number of rape cases in Assam.

In a communiqué, HYCPA president Balen Baishya squarely blamed the Home department in the hands of the Chief Minister for the abject failure on the two counts. The outcome being that the general people of the state are being forced to bear all the sufferings, he alleged. Baishya said, “In the char areas, activities of the Jehadis and the Islamic fundamentalists are rising at an alarming rate, and yet  the Home department is sitting over the developments.”

He said that if the government could exhibit some dexterity, the rapes could have been stopped before the miscreants could even initiate their sinister designs.

Through the communiqué Baishya informed that in 2014 the Parishad proposed to Home Minister Rajth Singh that a task force of indigenous people be constituted to foil the activities and growth of Jehadis in the State. The organisarion also proposed to the Home Minister that army operations be carried out in the char areas to put an end to the mece posed by the Jehadis, The HYCPA lamented that since the  government turned a deaf ear to the proposals, the present situation has emerged, resulting in the locals being forced to bear the brunt.

As per the communiqué, the HYCPA has once again demanded that army operations be launched against Jehadis in the char areas immediately to do away with anti-social, anti-tiol activities and other crimes in the state.
