Government to procure paddy

GUWAHATI, Oct 26: The Department of Agriculture, Assam has decided to procure 40,000 MT of paddy from the farmers of the State at the minimum support price (MSP) through Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board (ASAMB).

Sufficient numbers of paddy procurement centres will be established at paddy growing areas in the State to facilitate the procurement. This has been decided at a meeting held today under the chair of Additiol Chief Secretary, Agriculture Department and Agriculture Production Commissioner KK Miital at his office chamber at Assam Secretariat here today.

A decision was also taken to supply seeds of mustard, potato and pea to farmers within November 15.
