Governor appeals to government functiories to render their best to stimulate development of State

GUWAHATI, Jan 10: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit convened a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Joint Police Commissioner and heads of different departments of Kamrup (M) district and took stock of the development works, along with prevailing law-and-order situation in the district at Circuit House here today.

Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu drew the attention of the Governor to different development projects being undertaken in the district. GMC Commissioner Sanjiv Gogain Barua gave a detailed overview of GMC’s activities, especially the steps it has undertaken for garbage disposal.

The Governor asked the GMC Commissioner to see to the viability and formulate a scientific plan for garbage disposal so that garbage can be converted into useful energy.  

Joint Commissioner of Police Satyen Gogoi briefed the Governor on the law-and-order situation and different steps that the city police have been undertaking to keep the crime graph at the lowest ebb. BSNL General Mager Sandeep Govil apprised the Governor of the ongoing and upcoming projects under BSNL to ensure a seamless communication system in the city.

Purohit said, “After assuming gubertorial post, I have been taking keen interests to stimulate development of Assam and therefore intended to meet all the officers to get first hand information of the state.” He also urged the officers to work for the benefit of the needy and be punctual at their office and maintain total transparency in the professiol and persol life.

Pointing out to the dymic leadership of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, the Governor said that under his dymic leadership the State is marching ahead and will script an era of development for all sections of people. He also sought cooperation from all the officers and staff to help the government bring about much desired development in the State.

The meeting also took a pledge on Swachhata Abhiyan and vowed to undertake all possible measures to ensure cleanliness in and around the city.
