Governor attends Guru Purnima

GUWAHATI, July 9: On the occasion of Guru Purnia Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit visited Sri Sri Bheemashankar Jyotirlinga Temple, Panchkanya Dham, Baisistha Guwahati today and offered puja for the welfare of all sections of the people of the state.

Speaking on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sri Sri Bhrigu Giri Maharaj synchronizing with Guru Purnima, Purohit expressed his happiness on visiting the place. He said that Indian culture is very deep-rooted and though several attempts were made to disintegrate and malign the pan-Indian culture all such attempts were averted because Indian culture is based on a strong foundation of religion. Even saint like Swami Vivekanda professed the tenets of Indian culture and its intrinsic relations with the religion at a World Parliament of Religions in Chicago at 1893.

Purohit also said, “On the holy occasion of guru purnima we should all revere our gurus. It is the guru who guides us through darkness and leads us from ignorance to wisdom”.

This year also Guru Purnima and the birth anniversary of revered guru Sri Sri Bhrigu Giri Maharaj is being celebrated with five-day Rudra Yaj from July 9 to 13.

Speaking on the occasion Sri Sri Bhrigu Giri Maharaj emphasized indispensable relations between science and religion and advised people to use religion as a guiding force to go forward.
