Governor, CM and others greet on Idd-Ul-Zuha

GUWAHATI, Sept 12:  Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal led the State in extending their heartiest greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of the holy festival of Islam – Idd-Ul-Zuha.

In a statement issued to the press today, the Governor said: “I extend my heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the Muslim brethrens of the state on the occasion of Idd-Ul-Zuha, the feast of sacrifice.” The Governor appealed to regenerate the sense of sacrifice for one another and work for the betterment of the tion. He also laid stress on observance of the festival in the true spirit of celebration, in an atmosphere of peace and by exchanging feelings of friendship, trust and goodwill.

In a separate press release, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal extended heartiest greetings to the people of Assam on the pious occasion of Eid-Uz-Zuha. Sonowal said, “Eid-Uz-Zuha teaches us the tenets of sacrifice, compassion, love for fellow human beings and of course people belonging to different faiths which help us to win over hatred, greed and conflicts”. He also said that Eid-Uz-Zuha is an occasion which strengthens universal brotherhood.

“I wish this solemn occasion will further fortify the bonds of commul amity and brotherhood and usher in sustained peace, progress and prosperity in our State. May Eid further strengthen our cultural bonds and bring peace and prosperity to all,” Sonowal said.

State BJP in-charge president Santanu Bharali and party’s Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal also greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Idd-Ul-Zuha. They appealed to the people of the State to pray for the development of Assam.

AGP president Atul Bora, who is also State Aguricuture Minister, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, APCC president and MP Ripun Bora, AIUDF president MP Badruddin Ajmal and others also greeted the people of the State and said that the holy Idd would usher in peace in the State.
