Governor, CM extend May Day greetings

GUWAHATI, April 30: Assam Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today greeted the workers of the State on May Day in separate messages.

In his message, the Governor further said: “Workers are creators of wealth in every field of life. Work is worship. Exploitation of workers is a crime and is inhuman. We should respect them and have parity in our behaviour with them.”

The Governor has also appealed to all labour organizations to contribute towards building a ‘Swachh’, ‘Samriddh’ ‘Shashakt’ and ‘Niryog’ Bharat.

In a statement here on Saturday Gogoi said, “On the occasion of Intertiol Workers’ Day I extend my heartfelt greeting and good wishes to all the workers who toiled hard to give shape to our civilization. On this occasion, I also take the opportunity to offer my sincere tribute to the selfless contribution to the countless workers for facilitating progress, prosperity and wellbeing in our society”.

Gogoi also said that the existence of the society has been made possible by the relentless efforts and hard work of the workers and May Day is the day when one can acknowledge and show his gratitude to their service.

Solo photo exhibition

GUWAHATI, April 30: The 5th solo exhibition of photography and hand-made products made from waste materials will be held at State Art Gallery, Rabindra Bhavan, Ambari in the city from May 1 to 3, 2016, a press release said.

AIM convocation on May 3

GUWAHATI, April 30: Assam Institute of Magement (AIM) is going to hold its 21st convocation on May 3, 2016 from 11 am so as to award its students postgraduate diploma in Business Magement, a press release said.
