Governor, CM greet people  on Kati Bihu, Diwali

GUWAHATI, Oct 17: Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal led the State Government to greet the people of the State for Diwali and Kati Bihu.

In a message for all sections of the people of Assam, Prof. Mukhi said, “Deepavali, the festival of lights is celebrated to illumite the darkness in society and give wisdom a chance to prevail over ignorance. On this pious occasion of Deepavali I call upon everybody to celebrate the festival embellishing the message of universal brotherhood and mutual coexistence”.

In another message, Prof. Mukhi said, “Celebrations of Kati Bihu by people cutting across all areas bring them on a single platform, closer to the age old traditions of our society”. Let the ritual of giving earthen lamps on the fields destroy all the shortcomings associated with agriculture and lead to agricultural growth in the State.”

In his message, the Chief Minister said that Diwali serves to dispel the darkness, ignorance and evil from society. “The festival of lights signifies the triumph of good over evil and is integrally linked to our cultural and traditiol life. Let this celebration strengthen our bond of unity and brotherhood and inspire us to follow the path of righteousness,” Sonowal said.

 Sonowal also conveyed his greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Kati Bihu.  State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, in separate messages extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Diwali and Kali Puja.
