GUWAHATI, Dec 31: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal conveyed their warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the State on New Year.

In his message Prof. Mukhi said, “I convey my greetings and best wishes to the people of the State for the New Year and hope that his New Year usher in peace, prosperity and progress for the tion and its people.”

Mukhi also appealed to all the citizens to build stronger relations with one another and work for tiol development. “On this New Year let us all resolute to strengthen universal brotherhood, love and compassion for fellow human being, he added.

In his message, Sonowal conveyed his warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of New Year 2018. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the New Year would bring lots of joy and happiness in the lives of the people living in the Brahmaputra & Barak and hills and plains of the State.

“Unitedly we marched ahead in our journey to strengthen peace, harmony and brotherhood during 2017. I appreciate each one of you for your humanitarian endeavours for creating an amiable society. If we continue with this attitude, nothing can stop us from making Assam as one of the most prosperous and developed states in the country”, Sonowal observed.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that the State Government gives top priority to build the character and persolity of the young generation by providing them best academic environment. He also applauded the role played by parents, teachers, government officials and people as a whole in this regard.

“We always seek blessings from the people of the State. In the joint efforts of the public representatives and government officials to keep the state forward and ensuring that benefits of welfare schemes reach to the targeted beneficiaries, we need your blessings. We will have to ensure development of the state by making proper use of science and technology in our endeavours”, Sonowal said.

Further urging the people to keep close watch on the functioning of the government, the Chief Minister also lavished praised on the role played by the media in highlighting the critical issues and hoped this would continue in future as well.

State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary also extended warm greetings to the people of the state for the New Year 2018. In a message the Minister said, “I hope the coming year will usher in new hopes, aspirations and happiness for the people of Assam.” The Minister also called upon the people to instill a sense of oneness and work hand in hand to build Assam as a progressive and prosperous state.

Others who greeted the people of the State on the New Year are former Chief Ministers Tarun Gogoi and Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, State Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass, AGP president Atul Bora and working president Keshab Mahanta, APCC president Ripun Bora, AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal, Assam Livestock Corporation chairman Manoj Saikia, Assam Minority Development Board chairman Muminul Aowal, AYP president Sunil Deka, NF Railway Employees’ Union, leaders of the All Assam Students’ Union, Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad, and others.
