Governor hails House on GST Bill passage

GUWAHATI, May 12: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit congratulated the State Assembly and its members on passing the Goods and Services Tax Bill thus paving the way for operatiolizing of the GST Act and rolling out a uniform tax regime.
It may be noted that the State Assembly passed the GST Bill on Thursday to put in place a uniform taxation system for goods and services. Purohit hoped that the GST Bill would benefit consumer States like Assam to reap dividends as the burden of taxation at various stages would no longer be operatiol. It would also lend transparency in taxation system as the consumers would not have to bear the brunt of multiple taxations, Purohit added.
