Governor hails Red Cross Society

GUWAHATI, May 8: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit hailed the service of the countless volunteers who, by virtue of their dedicated services, made a sea change to the welfare of the humanity as a whole. In a statement made on the occasion of World Red Cross Day on Monday the Governor, while paying tributes to the dedicated volunteers for their selfless service to the cause of the humanity, said that because of their commitment and dedication the dream of Jean Henry Dunt, the founder of Red Cross Society, has become a success story today. He also paid his rich tribute to Jean Henry Dunt on the occasion of his birth day which is celebrated word wise as the world Red Cross Society Day, a press release said. He also appealed to everyone, especially the stakeholders of the Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch to renew their resolve to the fundamental principles of compassion and peaceful coexistence in achieving the very objective of the Red Cross Society. The Governor also lauded the efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch, and its commendable role directed towards reducing the sufferings of the people inflicted with conflicts, disasters and crisis.
