GUWAHATI, Oct 2: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit urged the historians of the north-eastern region to take proactive role and act as a bridge between past and present generation. Iugurating 38th Annual Conference of North East India History Association at Dakshin Kamrup Girls’ College, Mirza, the Governor said that the historians of the present day society must take a lead in writing books on the role of freedom fighters and their supreme sacrifices of the sons of the soil so that the present generation get to know and study about them and inculcate a sense of belongingness and sense of responsibility for tion building. Purohit said that regiol study should be complementary and not competitive and therefore urged them to concentrate on the tiol duty by researching the history of the region and publishing them. He also asked the historians of the tion to take initiative in rewriting the history of India by incorporating their findings about the Northeast and its role in history and culture of India, so that the tiol history becomes comprehensive and complete.
