Governor opens T lab for Marwari Hospitals

GUWAHATI, Sept 13: In an attempt to provide an additiol layer of blood safety and reduce the risk of transfusion transmitted infections (TTIs) in the recipients, Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit iugurated the Nucleic Acid Testing (T) laboratory for Marwari Hospitals at a programme held here on Tuesday evening.

Iugurating the laboratory the Governor said, “It’s indeed a laudable initiative on the part of the Marwari Hospital which is a unit of Shree Marwari Databya Aushadhalaya to introduce this facility for the people of the region in general and the State of Assam in particular which will act as a deterrent against haematological infections”. He congratulated the hospital authority for introducing such a modern and super speciality technique which accordingly to him would ensure enduring wellness to the patients.”

It may be noted that Nucleic Acid Testing T is a molecular technique for screening blood before dotions to reduce the risk of transfusion transmitted infections. This provides an additiol layer of blood safety. This technique is based on amplification of targeted regions of vira ribo-nuceic acid and detects them earlier than the other screening methods, thus rrowing the window period of HIV, HBV and Hepatitis C virus infections. T also adds the benefit of resolving false reactive dotions on serological methods which is very important for donor notification and counselling. With the iuguration of T, the facility can be extensively used to check and ensure safety apparatus of blood dotions and reduce the risks of infections like AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C etc. the Governor added.
