Governor's assurance to paper mill employees

GUWAHATI, Dec 30: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi assured a delegation of Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh of taking its demand to the Centre for the revival of gaon Paper Mill at Jagiroad in Morigaon district.
A four-member delegation led by president of Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh Ashok Kumar Roy representing Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh of Jagiroad Paper Mill, a unit of Hindustan Paper Corporation, met the Governor at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, submitted a memorandum and sought his intervention for the revival of the paper mill. The Governor, while enquiring about the backdrop against which the Paper Mills in Jagiroad and Panchgram faced the closure, assured them to take the matter to the Centre to take positive action and ensure their revival at the earliest possible.
Responding to an assertion by the delegation that Union ministries of Fince and Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises are well aware of the situations leading to the closure of the paper mills, Prof. Mukhi said that he would persolly put in his words to the appropriate authority of both the ministries to work on a revival package. The delegation of Kagajkal Majdoor Sangh also submitted its memorandum to the Governor.
