GU PG students' poll today

GUWAHATI, Sept 10: As many as 32 candidates are in fray vying for fifteen posts of the Post Graduate Students’ Union, Gauhati University. The students’ union is going to poll on Monday. One candidate, Phanindra Basumatary, has already been elected unopposed as minor games secretary, thereby reducing a candidate and a post.

While Debashree Goswami and Mash Pratim Duarah have been pitted in a straight fight for the post of president, the post of vice president is witnessing a triangular contest. The candidates vying for the post are Dipak Borah, Jyotish Kalita and Ranjan Bora. While the post of general secretary is also witnessing a straight fight between Monjit Sarma and Tamak Ranjan Dutta, the post of assistant general secretary is pitted in a triangular contest among Anjita Paul, Bhadrasingh Brahma and Dibyajyoti Biswas. The post of literary secretary has two candidates – Bhaskar Dutta and Himakshi Borah. While Barsharani Baruah and Ridip Lahkar have been vying for the post of music secretary, Bhaskarjyoti Sarma, Dhrubajyoti Hazarika and Robin Hzarika have been pitted in a triangular contest for the post of cultural secretary. Himamani Kalita and Udit rayan Dutta have been contesting for the post of Debate and Symposia secretary; Ariful Islam and Mahendra Basumatary have been fighting for the post of major games secretary; David Basumatary and Utpal Baruah have been pitted against each other for the post of sports secretary; Pabitra Pegu and Ranjan Upadhyaya are fighting for the post of boys’ common room secretary; Aligunja Sarma and Sagarika Goswami have been contesting for the post of girls’ common room secretary; Masum Janid and kul Brahma have been fighting for the post of gymsium secretary and Dipu Moni th and Gaurang Boro have been pitted against each other for the post of social service secretary.
