GU 'Varsity Week' concludes successfully

GUWAHATI, March 11: The week long ‘Varsity Week’ of Gauhati University which started on March 2, concluded successfully on Wednesday.

On the fil day of the event a colourful procession was taken out where thousands of students of the university participated spontaneously. The procession was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) M Angamuthu.

“The Varsity Week is a platform to show our talent in various cultural and sports events,” Partha Jyoti Ray, a student told The Sentinel.  He added, “This kind of festival brings brotherhood and prosperity among all the boarders and as youngsters we get motivation and energy to do something.”

An open meeting and prize distribution ceremony was also held on the last day of the week-long event. Many eminent persolities attended the ceremony which was graced by noted litterateur Dr Lakhi ndan Bora as the chief guest. The meeting was also attended by Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Dr Mridul Hazarika, Additiol Chief Secretary to Chief Minister MGVK Bhanu and many others. Later renowned singer Dikshu enthralled the audience at the cultural nite.
