By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 2: Long in something and short in something else is not what those at the helm of affairs in education in Assam want the students and their institutions to be. They want all-round progress of students, and with this motto the third phase of Gutsav is going to start in 13 districts in the State on Wednesday.

While Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal is supposed to be with the Gutsav team in Majuli, other ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats are going to visit various schools in the 13 districts, covering 12,37,922 students of 17,883 lower primary and upper primary schools. The teams are supposed to evaluate all aspects of education, including the quality of education being imparted to the students, the teacher-student ratio, availability or lack of basic amenities and school infrastructure including teaching aid, cleanliness and the like. Taking all such aspects into consideration, the teams grade schools.

The three-day third phase of Gutsav is going to start in Baksa, Darrang, Biswath, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Goalpara, Hojai, Karimganj, Majuli, lbari, Sonitpur and South Salmara-Mankachar. The drive is going to conclude on January 5. Earlier, two such Gutsavs were conducted successfully in the State.
