Guwahati designer  brings laurels to State

GUWAHATI, Oct 11: INIFD Guwahati student designer Sangee Brahma was honoured by Indian High Commission at London for her contribution to the use of India’s enormous traditiol design heritage to make its lasting impact on the global fashion scerio.

At a special felicitation ceremony held at India House in London, the Deputy High Commissioner Dinesh K Patik felicitated the designers for showcasing their collection on India Day during the prestigious London Fashion Week held at Fashion Scout.

These young student designers were awarded the ticket to London by ace Indian designer Manish Malhotra as they were selected amongst the 500 applicants from all across the country to represent INIFD on India Day during London Fashion Week. Leading Indian designer Masaba Gupta closed the India Day with a grand file Collection.

“TRIBE GLAM CHIC” inspired Sangee to present a collection on traditiol attire of Bodo culture where all the silhouettes showcased the Endi (Eri) and Aagor( embroidery) which is the creation by Bodo women in the form of clothes and patterns, popular in the North-Eastern region in India.  Chinki, the Centre Director of INIFD Guwahati, said that the budding designer will be felicitated upon her return from London at a civic reception for making India proud at London.
