Guwahati Refinery dotes school bus to Ashadeep

GUWAHATI, August 17: Guwahati Refinery doted a school bus to the city-based NGO, Ashadeep on August 15, 2016 during the Independence Day celebration function at Sector-II playground at Noonmati.

According to a press release, the school bus was doted to meet the commutation needs of the 135 mentally challenged members who receive specialized treatments at the NGO’s Day Rehabilitation Centre.

Guwahati Refinery Executive Directori Jogen Barpujari, handed over the keys of the 25-seater Force Traveler school bus to Ashadeep authorities amidst the presence of employees of Guwahati Refinery, their family members and locals from the greater Noonmati region.

Dr. Anja Goswami, Director (Ashadeep), expressed her gratitude towards Guwahati Refinery for the support. She said, “Apart from being a premier oil industry, we see Indian Oil Corporation Limited Guwahati Refinery as a humanitarian organization that has supported Ashadeep’s objective to eble the mentally disabled children and youth in rising above the societal stigmas against them and being accepted as contributing members of the society.”

Barpujari said, “We strongly feel that whatever we do to provide the much-needed support to the mentally- challenged people through organizations like Ashadeep is just not enough.  We have a much bigger responsibility of making them feel like one of us”.

Ashadeep is a non-government voluntary organization founded in 1996 in Guwahati which is working in the field of mental health in North-East India.
