Guwahati traffic police to streamline vehicular movement

GUWAHATI, Sept 15: The Guwahati traffic police has mooted for implementation of new initiatives to streamline the vehicular movement in the city.  

“It is always a big challenge to streamline traffic movement in the city,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic Amanjeet Kaur told The Sentinel on Thursday.

During an interaction with Kaur, who took charge as DCP (Traffic) from PJ Goswami recently, said that the residents of the city can help in streamlining the traffic movement.

“By their own initiatives, the denizens of Guwahati can help in smooth flow of traffic in the city by abiding the vehicular rules set by the authority,” Kaur stated.

The DCP further remarked that the city traffic police will take stringent action against traffic violators.

“There won’t be any lethargy on part of the city traffic police in implementing the rules. The traffic violators will be punished,” Kaur said.

She further said that the traffic police will abide by the rules depending on the need of that particular area.   Referring to manpower, Kaur stated that the there is sufficient traffic persols in the city. “We have around 660 persols which is sufficient for Guwahati city. The only need is proper streamlining of these persols,” she concluded.
