Rains smash smart city dream!

GUWAHATI, June 13: The smart city dream has suffered a setback yet gain, in the very first incessant rain after the onset of the monsoon. The Rain God has got his His message properly across to let the planners of the city know that the drains and sewerage system is the city is far from being adequate enough to carry the load of water when does not rain but pours.

Residents of the unplanned city had a harrowing time today, as though nothing was right for them. Many residents in the city had to remain stranded inside their houses as they had no way out to go out.

Jalukbari, Maligaon, Bhootth, Bharalumukh, Athgaon, Ambari, GNB Road, Lamb Road, B Barooah Road, GS Road, RG Baruah Road, Rajgarh Road, Anil gar, bin gar, Lachit gar, Beltola, Bashistha, Kalapahar, Kahilipara, Six Mile, VIP Road, stretches of NH-37, Panjabari, Bamunimaidam, Noonmati, Chandmari etc, were badly affected due to artificial floods today.

The campuses of many educatiol institutes in the city were inundated by rain water today. Students, office goers and other commuters had a harrowing time as the traffic system in the city failed to work due to the artificial floods.
