‘Hand over Jogdol murder case to CBI’

From our Correspondent

DIMORIA, Dec 11: Failure on the part of the investigators to bring to book the culprits of the infamous Jogdol murder case has prompted the Inter-Dimoria Regiol Students’ Union, a unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), to demonstrate today. They demanded of the government to hand over the case to the CBI.

The Jogdol murder is going to complete seven years tomorrow. On the fateful night of December 12, 2009 six family members of Harakanta Doloi were slain. The deceased include two minors – Atul and Tuklu – whose heads were found at the hospital campus of Dr. Dhaniram Baruah.

Over the years, the case was first investigated by the Sopanur police and then by the CID. None of them, however, could bring the culprits to book. Taking that into account, the AASU unit wants the handing over of the case to the CBI. They also demanded the government to bring former MLA Akan Bora under the purview of the investigation. Mystery shrouds the murder case as one of the accused, Arjun Bordoloi, was also murdered on September 5, 2012. “Who killed Arjun Bordoloi is a mystery. Taking all such aspects into consideration, the case should be handed over to the CBI,” the leaders of the students’ body said.
