Haphazard parking in Fancy Bazar leaves pedestrians fuming

GUWAHATI, Nov 22: The haphazard parking of bikes and other vehicles along roads in busy Fancy Bazar area of the city, blocking passage for pedestrians, has become a nuisance for locals.

The manner in which vehicles are parked has left shoppers and traders of the Fancy Bazar fuming. Surprisingly it has escaped police attention.

The chaos on account of wrongly parked bikes leaving the public to inconvenience is right at Fancy Bazar traffic point area and at the Gate No 2 of Fancy Bazar.

What is most surprising is the fact that nobody bothers to check how vehicles are parked on the busy roads crowded with customers coming to the market for shopping.

“People should have the basic knowledge of parking their vehicle in public places. People used to park their bikes and cars wherever they feel comfortable for themselves by blocking the roads, whereas people face lots of difficulties to walk due to this,” Smiriti Gupta, a local resident, told The Sentinel.

Sandip Kumar, a local trader, said that the authorities concern should take immediate steps to check this problem. “The bikes are parked in such a manner that there is hardly any place left for people to walk on the road when a vehicle is passing,” he said.
