Health hazards grip city traffic controllers!

GUWAHATI, June 6: Majority of traffic police personnel of the city have been suffering from numerous health problems, ranging from cervical spondylosis to knee-joint pain.

A day-long free of cost health screening camp was conducted for Guwahati traffic police at Police Reserve of Guwahati today when more than 100 traffic policemen working under Guwahati Traffic Police Department (GTPD) were diagnosed.

Many patients with cervical spondylosis, weakness, back pain, shoulder, limb and knee joint pain were found among the traffic policemen due to their standing job. Hyper tension and diabetes were also detected as common problems in the age group of 30-50 years, which increased the risks of developing cardio vascular diseases, the doctors said. Team of specialists from Orthopedics, Cardiology and Medicine department participated in the camp and did prelimiry health screening for all traffic policemen.
