Hearing on death of prisoner sentenced to life

GUWAHATI, August 16: The hearing on the death of Ram Charit Mehta, a prisoner sentenced to life, in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on June 27, 2016 will be on August 26, 2016 in the office of Kamrup(M) executive magistrate-cum-Chandrapur Circle Officer Dipmala Gowala. Following a directive from the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC), the district magistrate entrusted Gowala to inquire into the circumstances leading to the death of the prisoner.
