Hem Baruah award given away

GUWAHATI, April 17: Hem Baruah Trust today gave away the Hem Baruah Memorial Award to Dipsikha Foundation Chairman Debashish Sarma and Madhya Mayong Highschool headmaster Govinda Chandra Bordoloi.

While Sarma, who is also resident-commissionner of Assam House, Mumbai, got the award for aiding cancer patients through Dipsikha Foundation, Bordoloi got the award for spreading education in rural areas and social works. While Sarma got Rs 50,000 besides the citation, Bodoloi got Rs 25,000 along with the citation at a function presided over the public activist Deven Dutta.

A book written by Anu Baruah, wife of Hem Baruah — Hem Baruah Mor Chiki Manujan – was also released on the occasion. Udayaditya Bharali was also present at the function and the awards were given away by Ramani Barman, on behalf of the Trust.
