Hepatitis B vaccition camp concludes at press club

GUWAHATI, April 5: Nearly hundred media persons with their spouses joined in a Hepatitis B vaccition camp organized by Dispur Hospital in Guwahati Press Club today, a press release said. The camp started at 11 am and continued for more than one hour.

Mr Ujjal Saikia, the public relation officer of Dispur Hospitals Pvt Ltd, Ganeshguri, Guwahati led the vaccition team comprising of Haren Das with staff nurses mely Anjali Bhuyan, Ti Devi, Jesmin Sulta and Bisaya Devi. The second dose of the Hepatitis B vaccine will be given on 5 May 2015 in the press club (within 11 am to 12 noon), which is necessary for completion of the vaccition process. Caused by the hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that affects the human liver. It can cause both acute and chronic infections. Shockingly many people may have no symptom during the initial infection.  The virus is transmitted by exposure to infectious blood or body fluids. The infection has been preventable by vaccition since 1982 and the vaccition is recommended by the World Health Organization in the first day of life if possible.  Statistics reveal that over 750,000 people die of hepatitis B each year.
