Giving details of the modus operandi and the transit route to reach Assam being followed by Rohingiyas, Baishya said: “They first enter Tikrikilla in Garo Hills in Meghlaya from Bangladesh and opt to stay there for a period, before entering Assam. They enter Assam from Garo Hills via Damara and go to various sars in Dhubri district. They stay there for a period. From there they steer motor boats upstream the Brahmaputra to three specific sars in Barpeta district and Bhagmari sar in lbari district. Their religious oneness make they easily get blended into the local populace. All the places, right from Garo Hills to the sars in Dhubri, are transit points where they choose to stay for certain periods, as though to acclimatize themselves to the new situation or ambience. Amidst co-religious people, they can get blended into the local populace at ease.” The situation in Assam, HYCPA fears, is fraught with more uprisings by Islamic insurgents with ubated influx of Rohingiyas to the State. “We, therefore, appeal to both the Centre and the State Government to conduct search operations in all sar areas in the State so as to flush the Rohingiyas out,” the statement said.
